'Kaala', directed by Pa. Ranjith, has been shot to the tune of 70 per cent of the run-time. This is by far one of the fastest-made films in Rajinikanth's career in recent times.
After a hectic shooting schedule in Mumbai, 'Kaala' is currently being shot on the grand sets erected at the EVP Studios near Chennai. The film, produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, has pulled off an ensemble cast comprising of the super-talented Nana Patekar, Shayaji Shinde, Samuthirakani ('VIP-2' fame), Sampath Raj ('Mirchi' and 'Srimanthudu' fame) and Huma Quereshi (of 'Jolly LLB-2' fame), among others.
Dileep Subbarayan, the stunt choreographer, has said that Rajini will be performing natural stunts in the movie and there will be no exaggerations in the action.
"No one had gone inside Dharavi (to make a film). Many artists have gone inside but they could not act. It's because it's overwhelmingly crowded. We have shot inside and around Dharavi for four days. We have also shot extensively in many important places in Mumbai. We have tried to portray the life of those people in a very realistic manner. But the film is not only about and for Mumbai Tamils. It is about the entire Indian society," director Pa.Ranjith recently said.
'Kaala' will hit the screens in either April or May 2018.
