Superstar to participate in an event for Eelam Tamils

As his mega budget scientific entertainer '2.0' is nearing the finish line. Superstar Rajinikanth will be taking part in an event conducted by the film's producer Lyca Productions for Sri Lankan Tamils on April 9, 2017.
Gnanam Foundation, run by Lyca Group Chairman Subaskaran Alliraja has built 150 houses, for the Tamil families displaced by the final war of ethnic conflict in 2009. The keys for the newly built houses will be handed over to the beneficiaries in the event to be held in Jaffna on April 9. Rajinikanth will take part as the chief guest of the event and hand over the keys to the beneficiaries.
This is the first time, the 65 year old Superstar is taking part in an event associated with Eelam Tamils. There is a tremendous patronage for Tamil films among Tamil living in north and eastern provinces of Sri Lanka. The much loved Superstar of Tamil cinema visiting the place is expected to draw huge crowds also because the actor is expected to address the gathering.
C.V.Vigneshwaran, the Chief Minister of Northern Province, Tamil National Alliance Leader R.Sampanthan and Malaysian Senate leader S.Vigneshwaran are the other prominent guests who will be gracing the event with their presence.
Gnanam Trust being run by Subaskaran under his mother's name has constructed these houses on a budget of Rs.22 crores. They are also involved in rebuilding the schools damaged during the 2009 war.
The houses have been built in Chinnadampan and Puliyankulam villages in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka.
