This is the sixtieth year of Kamal Haasan’s valuable presence in the Indian film industry and Raj Kamal Films International has decided to celebrate it in style with a three day festivities planned.
Accordingly, on November 7th the birthday of Kamal, a statue of his father Srinivasan the freedom fighter and lawyer will be unveiled by the Ulaganayagan in his hometown Paramakudi. On November 8th the statue of Kamal’s mentor director K. Balachander will be unveiled at the new Raj Kamal Films International office in Alwarpet. Later that evening at 3.30 pm Kamal’s iconic directorial debut film ‘Hey Ram’ will be screened at the Sathyam theater in Chennai followed by a question and answer session with industry stalwarts to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
On November 9th a musical tribute by Isaigniani Ilayaraja with SPB and Kamal himself singing will mark the evening and Superstar Rajinikanth along with other big actors and actresses of Indian cinema will be gracing the occasion. It is worth mentioning that Rajini and Kamal share a forty-year friendship in spite of their onscreen rivalry and political and ideological differences.
