Superstar Rajinikanth had approached the Madras High Court seeking exemption from the property tax of 6.5 lakhs levied by the Chennai Corporation on his Raghavendhra Marriage Hall situated in Kodambakkam Chennai.

Rajini in his petition has reportedly stated that the marriage hall has not been given for rent for the past six months due to the coronavirus lockdown and hence has not had any income.

The judge handling the petition has slammed the advocate advising not to waste the time of the court with such petitions.  He has pointed out that property tax has nothing to with income that the property makes and any reminder should have been sent to the corporation.  

Rajini's counsel then withdrew the petition after the judge warned that this case could attract penalty from the court.

On the professional front Rajini has completed fifty percent of shooting for his upcoming movie 'Annaathe' directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sun Pictures.  It is said that he has decided not to resume work until the COVID 19 pandemic ends or a vaccine comes into circulation.
