Yesterday IndiaGlitz had reported that Superstar Rajinikanth's much anticipated film 'Kabali' will have special screenings in Five Star Hotels along with theatrical release. This is the first time a film is getting released in other places apart from theatrical screens.
Sara Govind, the president of the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and the president of Rajkumar Fan club association has objected to the screening of the film in star hotels as it is a violation of law. According to him, for such special screenings, prior permission has to be obtained from various authorities including the City Police Commissioner.
Govind has sent letters to the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and the Karnataka Home Secretary to stop the screening of Kabali' in places other than movie halls.
Meanwhile there is another form of protest that is more closely connected to the film 'Kabali'. A Madurai based person named Maharajan has filed a petition in the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court seeking a direction remove objectionable lines in the film's 'Ulagam Oruvanukka' song penned by Kabilan.
Maharajan in his petition has stated that certain verses in the song are casteist and hurt the sentiments of people belonging to Backward Caste and General category. Hence he has requested to the Court to order for the removal of those lines to avoid unnecessary controversies and other problems
The Court is yet to take up the petition for hearing while 'Kabali' will be hitting the screens worldwide on July 22 that is day after tomorrow.
