Superstar Rajinikanth has come out in support of not just the Citizenship Amendment Act but also the National Population Register, an exercise that will be undertaken as part of the Census 2021.
"The CAA will not affect any citizen of our country," the 'Darbar' actor today said. At a time when millions of Muslims are alleging that it is a conspiracy to take away their citizenship rights, Rajini iterated that he will be the first person to oppose CAA if Muslims are affected.
About the NPR, the legendary actor said that it is very much needed. "We need to spot the outsiders (referring to illegal immigrants from Bangladesh living in many parts of India)," Rajini commented.
The actor took the line taken by the Modi government with regards to the National Register of Citizens. "The NRC has not been formulated yet," Rajini said.
