The three and half decade old cult classic is making its way back to the silver screen, after total digital restoration. Starring the ever green actors of Kollywood - Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan and Sridevi - in the lead, and marking the famed director Bharathiraja's debut in the industry, '16 Vayathinile' is all set to hit the screens once again after 36 years.

Marking the initial development, the film's trailer was launched at Kamala Cinemas and the event was graced by the august presence of Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Bharathiraja, Parthiban, Bhagyaraj, the film's producer Rajkannu, and many others. Bharathiraja, who made his famed debut, held the mic to reveal some secrets of the yesteryear blockbuster. One of the catchy truth about the project was the salary that the big heroes drew from it. Speaking on the subject, Bharathiraja said "Kamal was already a big and established hero back then, which is why his salary was a princely sum of 27 thousand rupees." On the other hand, he further divulged that, while Superstar Rajinikanth asked for a salary of Rs. 5000, the team negotiated his pay to three thousand and ended up paying him only 2500 bucks!
