The people's protest against Sterlite factory has gained nationwide attention. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan visited the venue of the protest at Kumareddiyapuram in Tuticorin and pledged his support. He also urged the Central and State Governments to withdraw the clearance given to the expansion of Sterlite's copper factory and called for the closure of Sterlite if possible.
A few days earlier Superstar Rajinikanth had tweeted in favour of the protest against Strelite. Actor Vijay Sethupathy. G.V.Prakash Kumar and Aari have also tweeted against Sterlite and expressed support to the people's protest.
Now Sterlite has tweeted the actors saying they have been misinformed about the operations of the factory. They have also claimed that there is no concrete date supporting the claim that Sterlite is polluting the locality and causing health hazard to people. Regarding Kamal's comments from the protest field, the Sterlite team has said they are shocked that an actor of his stature could speak like that without checking the facts.
Dear @rajinikanth, we feel that incorrect and untrue information may have reached you about our operations in Thoothukudi. It is our sincere hope that these #facts will give you the true picture and help develop a balanced opinion. #TruthAloneTriumphs #FactsMatter pic.twitter.com/uiRaNpIwVO
