Looks like the failures of Kochadaiiyaan and Lingaa had hardly shown any impact on Rajinikanth`s craze among trade circles. Reports have flown in that producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has sold out the overseas rights of Rajinikanth`s upcoming movie Kabali to a leading distribution giant for Rs 28 crore. The film has been sold at a record price in territories like USA, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.
What`s more interesting is that the film has fetched nearly 50% than that of Lingaa, enunciating the craze Rajini has in overseas. However, this for the Tamil version alone and the makers are predicting nothing less than Rs 12 crore for the Telugu version. Going by the trade estimates, the Tamil version of Kabali is expected to collect Rs 35 crore at the box office. This is by far a good profit margin for a Tamil film in overseas.
Directed by PA Ranjith, the film will see Rajinikanth as an ageing don. The film is expected to hit the screens in December. Hope, Rajini makes a comeback with Kabali.
