At Prime Minister Modi's invitation, the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, is visiting Chennai from October 11 - 12 for an informal summit.

PM Modi will arrive at the Chennai Airport ahead of President Xi Jinping and will be received at the gate by CM Edappadi Palaniswami. The two leaders will reportedly visit the historical monuments of Mahabalipuram, followed by a high-profile dinner hosted by Modi at the Taj Fisherman's Cove resort. Reports suggest that the PM has invited veteran actor Rajinikanth for the dinner with the Chinese President.

The summit will provide an opportunity for PM Modi and President Jinping to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional, and global importance and to exchange views on deepening India-China Closer Development Partnership, the Ministry of External Affairs reportedly said in a statement.
