The protests in Tuticorin against the Sterlite corporation ended up in violence towards the 100th day. About 13 people were injured as police opened fire on the protestors. Many injured members were admitted in hospitals who received monetary help from political parties and the government as well.

Rajinikanth who visited Tuticorin, provided a cash relief of Rs.2 lakhs to the family which lost lives and Rs.10,000 to families where members were injured. Four families have refused to receive Rajinikanth’s aid. It should be noted that the said families also refused government’s aid as well.

However, the Tuticorin’s Rajini Makkal Mandram has promised that if need be, Rajinikanth is ready to help the four families whenever and in whatever way they want it.
