The Tamil Nadu Theaterand Multiplex Owners Association has met on May 26th to address several issues faced by them including exhorbitant property taxes, rising maintainence and labor costs etc. An order has been issued for uniformity in theater share by splitting stars under three categories and also fixing a slab for the same.
According to the circular the tier one stars are Superstar Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay and Thala Ajith for whom theater share will be 60 percent at the A Centers and 65 percent at the other centers for the first week. For the second week the the share would be 55 percent in A centers and 60 percent in others for these three mega stars.
Similarly the tier two consists of actors Suriya, Dhanush, Simbu, Jayam Ravi, Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi and their first week theater share would be 55 percent in the A centers and 60 percent in others and for the second week it would reduce to 50 and 55 percent respectively.
For all other stars the first week share would stand at 50 percent in both A and other centers and 45 percent for both in the second week. The above figures are lesser than what is in force currently and could cause a friction between the producers and the exhibitors and remains to be seen how they react in the coming days.
