Rajasekaran an assistant director had filed a case claiming that the story of Kaala` directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Dhanush is based on his Karikalan` which title he registered in 2012. He has also claimed that he had met Rajinikanth`s close aide Sathyanarayana and narrated the story many times hoping to rope in the Superstar for his project. He has filed a case in the court alleging plagiarism and it was ordered for Rajini, Ranjith and Dhanush to reply on the 12th of July.

Yesterday when the case came up for hearing in the Madras High Court the counsels for the defendants stated that the trio is busy with the shooting of Kaala`in Mumbai and need more time to file their reply. The court has granted a further one week time but the “Kaala` team affirm that the allegations are baseless and Ranjith has written an original story.
