Superstar Rajinikanth has stated that he cannot be held responsible for his in-law Kasthuriraja's borrowal of Rs 65 lakh from a film financier.

In his counter-affidavit filed before the Madras High Court, Rajini said he had no connection with the loan obtained by Kasthuriraja from S Mukanchand Bothra of Sowcarpet.

Rajini said he did not even have any knowledge about the money deals between Kasthuriraja and Bothra. He wanted the application (by Bothra) to be dismissed with exemplary costs.

In his petition, Bothra alleged that Kasthuriraja had obtained Rs 65 lakh from him, promising that even if he failed to repay the sum, Rajinikanth would.
