Tamil superstar Rajinikanth called on nonagenarian DMK president M. Karunanidhi at the latter`s Gopalapuram residence in Chennai yesterday to seek blessings for his political entry.
Rajini made the much-awaited announcement by his fans on Sunday (31st December) assuring them that he would be floating his own political outfit and contesting all the 234 Assembly seats in the State as and when polls are held. The very next day, Rajini introduced a mobile app and a registration process on an exclusive website to enable fans to get themselves registered as members/cadres of his proposed outfit.
As active as ever, Rajini met mediapersons on Tuesday and sought their cooperation for his tenure in politics. He then visited the Rama Krishna Mutt at Mylapore and had a lengthy chat with Swami Gauthamananda. Observers point out that Rajini, who had made it clear that religious politics would be his kind of politics, might have received a piece of advice from the Swamy on his political endeavours.
Rajini had earlier called noted political critics to his residence and held extensive talks with them. He visited DMK chief Karunanidhi`s Gopalapuram residence yesterday amid a batter of pressmen and photographers who got info about the superstar's visit and were already present at Gopalapuram.
Stalin, the DMK's working president, was present during Rajini's 20-minute long meeting with his father Karunanidhi. Later, speaking to newsmen, Rajini said tha he had come to meet Karunanidhi to seek his blessings. "I conveyed my New Year wishes to him, informed him about my decision to enter politics and sought his blessings," Rajini said.
