Superstar Rajinikanth has appealed to the print and television media personnel to remain ‘helpful’ to him in his political endeavours.
Rajini’s December 31 announcement that he would be indulging in active politics in the State by contesting from all the 234 Assembly constituencies (as and when Assembly polls are held) under the umbrella of his yet-to-be-named political outfit has become a huge debate in the State. Political parties, though they are not talking openly about it, are wary of the fact many of their cadres are Rajini’s huge fans.
Rajini met the press at a star hotel in Egmore yesterday evening. During his brief talk, Rajini recalled his days as a journalist in Bangalore when he had worked as a proof-reader for a couple of months. “I need your (media) help to sustain myself in politics; I need journos’ help at all times and I request you to forgive me if I had committed any mistake/error inadvertently.
“Tamil Nadu has always been the origin of many revolutions in the past; we had contributed hugely to the Independence struggle. Mahatma Gandhi abandoned his shirt only after coming to Tamil Nadu. We are now ready for yet another struggle resembling the Independence struggle and I am here to prompt the revolution. The future generation can sustain only if the change occurs now,” Rajini said.
