Casting a big movie is always a knife-edged job. Especially in Telugu, it's a highly thankless job. While on one hand anything and anyone can get away with a role in a big star's movie, blame game starts when the movie hasn't yielded good results at the Box Office. That's exactly why in Telugu, there is no specific tag for a 'Casting Director' and the job is usually done by the director himself. The point is, it takes some exercise and foresight on the part of the director while choosing key roles such as Hero's father.

News is that Rajendra Prasad is being cast as Mahesh Babu's father in Srinu Vaitla’s under production venture 'Aagadu'. Usually, Prakash Raj walks away with the role of a dignified father who can emote well in key sequences (Refer 'Dookudu'). However, with Sri Hari's sudden demise, the void for the special role of Sri Hari is now filled by the versatile Prakash Raj and another key role, that of the father to hero is being played by RP. The news is to be officially confirmed.

We all know the potential of Rajendra Prasad as an actor with an impeccable timing. We have been seeing him of late playing father to heroes like Gopichand, Siddharth and a fatherly role in 'Julayi' too. But this will be the first 'Big Ticket Father' opportunity to the actor and if he is received well, it could well extend his career to another 2-3 decades and what blessing it could be to Telugu audiences...
