A 14-year-old boy took his life by hanging himself off the grill of the ventilator in his bedroom early Saturday morning after he spent hours playing PUBG on his mother's mobile.

The teenager, who is a class 9 student and the son of an Army man, was found dead in his bedroom on Saturday morning in Rajasthan's Kota. "According to the boy's family members, the boy had downloaded the gaming programme on his mother's mobile phone three days back and had been playing the game continuously ever since," a Railway Colony police station in-charge reportedly stated. "He kept playing the game till 3 am in a room where his brother was studying and went to the adjoining room to sleep later. The boy was rushed to the hospital after he was found hanging from the ventilator's grill in the morning but was declared dead on arrival," the official further added. The boy was a resident of Kota's Gandhi Colony, where he lived with his mother and brother, while his father is currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh.

No suicide note has been recovered from the site, so the exact reason for the boy's suicide is unknown. his body has been kept in the hospital's morgue for a post-mortem while a formal investigation of the matter is currently underway.
