Believe it or not, in one of the rare incidents, the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court granted 15 day parole to a man so that he could get his wife pregnant. According to reports, Justices Sandeep Mehta and Farzand Ali gave the unique order of 15-day parole to 34-year-old Nandlal so that his wife, Rekha, could conceive after she had sought the release of her husband on the “right of progeny.” On her plea, the woman said that her sexual and emotional needs were affected due to her husband’s imprisonment.
That wasn't it. The court also cited Hindu scriptures, including Rig Veda and also referred to the doctrines of Judaism, Christianity and Islam to grant 15-day parole to the prisoner. The court also stated that "the right to satisfaction can be exercised through marital life. It also has the effect of normalizing the offender. It also helps to change the behaviour of the convict-prisoner." Nandlal was serving a life sentence and was lodged in the Ajmer jail. Now, he had been granted 20-day parole in 2021.
