'Shekar' was released in theatres on Friday (May 20). Owing to a financial dispute, the film's negative rights have been attached. A Hyderabad civil court on Sunday stalled the screening of the investigative thriller from the evening. Until further notice, 'Shekar' can't be played in theatres.
Dr. Rajasekhar, the film's hero, has alleged conspiracy on the part of some elements. In his statement, the senior actor observed that 'Shekar' is everything for him and his family. "We worked very hard to bring this film to the audience. 'Shekar' was garnering such a great response, but today just out of spite, some people have conspired and stopped our film from being screened," the 'PSV Garuda Vega' actor wrote.
He added, "Cinema is our life. This film, especially, was our hope. I have run out of things to say. I can only hope that this film will eventually get the visibility and appreciation that it truly deserves."
'Shekar' is directed by Jeevitha Rajasekhar and co-stars Aathmiya Rajan, Shivani Rajasekhar, Muskaan and others. Its music is by Anup Rubens.
