With 18-year-old Hima Das winning for India the country's first ever track gold at a global event, congratulations are pouring in from across the country. The youngster has won the 400 metre final at the World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.

Rajamouli and NTR have praised the champion. Rajamouli said, "Congratulations on winning the gold in 400 metres race and becoming the first Indian woman to win gold in athletics. Each and everyone in India are proud of you."

Taking to Twitter, NTR said, "Hearty congratulations to Hima Das for making History as India’s first gold medal winning athlete in a track and field event. A proud moment for all of us."
