'Rudramadevi' is set for a release on 9th of this month and Gunasekhar, the director and producer of the film, revealed how Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' has helped his movie.
"When Ilayaraja sir heard the story of Rudhramadevi, he was spellbound. He was surprised how such a great story of a queen, who ruled a kingdom for 40 years, is little known to Indians and suggested a Tamil distributor to hear the story. He liked it and bought the rights. Even Malayalam distributor was very impressed with the story. But the credit goes to Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' for opening market for 'Rudhramadevi' in Bollywood. Because after that film released, they (Reliance Entertainment and Abhishek Pictures ) have shown interest on Rudramadevi, as it is also a historical film. After hearing the story, they were very impressed and bought the Hindi rights", Gunasekhar said.
Anushka plays the titular role in 'Rudhramadevi'. Allu Arjun played Gona Gannareddy and Rana Daggubati will be seen as Chalukya Veerabhadra. The film will also be released in 2D along with the 3D version.
