It is Christmas time and a couple of films have already been released to cash in on the festivities, but Mammootty starrer "Rajamanickyam" still tops the list.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Raajamanickyam": With a record success at box office in the recent times, this film retains its top position. Director Anwar Rasheed is remaking it in Tamil with Sarath Kumar in the lead.

2. "Boyy Friennd": Director Vinayan has embroiled himself in a new controversy by using mimicry artistes who impersonate superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal in a song in the film. It remains to be seen how this will affect the film's popularity.

3. "Anandabhadram": This Santosh Sivan film has slipped down on the chart. It seems this 'supernatural' thriller's best time at the box office is over.

4. "The Tiger": The team of actor Suresh Gopi and director Shaji Kailas returns after a long hiatus with another cop tale. It is still too early to predict its fate.

5. "Tanmatra": Director Blessy is back, this time with Mohanlal playing a family man in his film. It remains to be seen whether this film will repeat the success story of his earlier hit "Kazhcha".
