Raja condemns attack on BJP cadres at Vaiko’s campaign rally

BJP national general secretary H. Raja has strongly condemned attack on BJP cadres during MDMK general secretary Vaiko’s ‘awareness’ campaign rally yesterday.

Vaiko has been on an awareness-creating walkathon to create awareness about the ills which would befall people of the State if Sterlite Industries in Tuticorin is allowed to function anymore in the State. During his walkathon at Udankudi yesterday, scores of BJP cadres were attacked.

“BJP cadres didn’t retort to violence when the MDMK cares indulged in black-flag demonstration against the Prime Minister during his recent visit to Chennai.  However, MDMK cadres have attacked BJP cadres at Udankudi during Vaiko’s walkathon.  I strongly condemn this as violence has no place in a democracy,” Raja said on his Twitter account condemning the attack on party cadres.

BJP’s Tamil Nadu Unit president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has also condemned the attack on party cadres.  She has also requested the AIADMK-led State Govt. to consider banning Vaiko’s walkathon as it sponsors violence at will.
