Basavaraju, 53-year-old father of Raj Tarun, has been sentenced to a jail term of 3 years in a cheating case.
Back in 2013, the convicted criminal had secured a loan of more than Rs. 9 lakhs from a bank by mortgaging fake gold in cahoots with others. He had been working as an assistant cashier at Simhachalam's State Bank of India.
Basaraju's misdeed came to light when an audit was conducted at the concerned bank recently. Upon finding that the mortgaged gold is fake, a case was filed against him and others. A Visakhapatnam court has sentenced him to the said jail term, besides imposing a fine of Rs. 20, 000.
Raj Tarun awaits the release of 'Lover' and 'Raju Gadu' in the coming months.
