Railway food unfit for consumption: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) deemed food served in Railways unsuitable for human consumption in its report “Catering Services in Indian Railways”.
After inspection go 74 stations and 80 trains, the audit noted frequent policy changes as a reason for the Indian Railways not being able to make any progress in improving the infrastructure in terms of kitchens, catering units and vending machines, among other items.
