Congress president Rahul Gandhi has ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for by-passing the question of a commoner during the latter’s much-touted video interaction with people using ‘NaMo app’.

Rahul was referring to Modi’s style of addressing people using the Tamil word ‘Vanakkam’ and said that the prime-minister had only ‘Vanakkam’ as the answer to nagging questions. The question which the PM by-passed without answering fully related to the Centre’s taxation policies which are hurting the middle-class.

During the question-answer interaction via ‘NaMo app’, a trader and BJP cadre Nirmal Kumar Jain asked the Prime Minister to explain the various taxes being collected by the Centre from the middle class without providing them with any kind of relief whatsoever through income-tax. “The Centre doesn’t seem to be in a mood to ease the procedures for secring loans,” Jain said.

Responding to Jain’s request to ‘take care’ of the middle-class, the prime-minister merely said “Thank you, Nirmal-ji. You are a trader, so it's normal that you will talk business. I favour taking care of common people and the common people will be taken care of!” and then concludd the chat by wishing Chaliye Puducherry ko Vanakam.

Taking on the prime-minister for his reply, Rahul Gandhi said on his Twitter account that the PM had no answer to the problems faced by the struggling middle-class. “Vetting questions is a superb idea; I feel they should consider vetting the answers as well,” Rahul ridiculed. He also wondered why the Prime Minister was afraid of facing the press as he hasn’t addressed a formal press meet since May, 2014.
