Sam Pitroda, known to be one of the mentors of Rahul Gandhi, has been accused of justifying the Sikh genocide in 1984 following the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Speaking to a TV channel, Sam used the words 'Hua tho hua' about the carnage, inviting heavy social media trolling and criticism.

The BJP has highlighted the comments ahead of the sixth phase of polling. "Agony of the entire Sikh community. Suffering of all those Sikh families killed by Congress leaders in 1984. Attack on Delhi’s secular ethos. All summed up in these three words by Sam Pitroda - Hua To Hua. India will never forgive #MurdererCongress for its sins," said BJP president Amit Shah.

A journalist has described Sam as a "self-goal machine" who is helping the saffron party every time he opens his mouth!

On his part, Sam has tried to do damage control. "I acknowledged the pain of my Sikh brothers and sisters during difficult times in 1984 and deeply feel for the atrocities that happened," he tweeted out.
