Talking about US President Donald Trump's claim that Prime Minister Modi had asked him to mediate in the Kashmir issue, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has demanded that Modi "must tell the nation what transpired" in his meeting with Trump.
Donald Trump met with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House on Monday, where he made a claim that PM Narendra Modi had sought Trump's mediation to resolve the Kashmir issue and had even stated that he received a request from Modi to do so in a recent meeting with him. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar refuted Trump's claims and stated in the Rajya Sabha that no such request was made by the PM.
However, Rahul Gandhi posted, "President Trump says PM Modi asked him to mediate between India & Pakistan on Kashmir! If true, PM Modi has betrayed India’s interests & 1972 Shimla Agreement. A weak Foreign Ministry denial won’t do. PM must tell the nation what transpired in the meeting between him & @POTUS."
