Congress President Rahul Gandhi had earlier announced as a part of election promises that if Congress is elected to rule in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, their government will provide Minimum Basic Income of Rs 6000 for families below poverty line, and now the leader has detailed on the plans.

This Minimum Basic Income plan has been seen as the key for Congress to succeed in the elections,  and as per this plan, irrespective of the job one holds, or the role, if the family belongs to below poverty line category, the family will be given a minimum income. This has been already in effect in many nations.

Now, Rahul Gandhi has announced to implement the same in India, and Rs 6000 per month will be given as Minimum Basic Income, and he has said that this will benefit 5 crore families and 25 crore Indians, and at least 20% of the Indians below poverty line will be helped by this. Families which have an income below 12000 rupees per month will be eligible for this, and with this scheme, those families will be able to earn 72000 rupees per year. The money will be credited directly into the bank accounts every month, and people need not fill any forms to apply for this scheme, and it was after carefully analyzing and calculating that this scheme was announced, said Rahul Gandhi.
