Anticipating violence in the name of protests against the new citizenship law, the police in various cities have either imposed Section 144 or denied permissions for marches. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has today condemned the police for doing the same.
"This government has no right to shut down colleges, telephones and the Internet, to halt metro trains and to impose #Section144 to suppress India's voice and prevent peaceful protests. To do so is an insult to India’s soul," RaGa said on Thursday evening.
In Lucknow and a couple of other places, violent protests took place today. Goons had infiltrated the anti-CAA protests in these locations.
In Lucknow, after a dozen vehicles were torched by protestors, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that the properties of rioters found guilty of torching will be confiscated.
