With the tenure of the Indian cricket team’s current coaching staff coming to an end after the ICC men’s T20 World Cup, former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is all set to take over as the national team’s head coach, replacing veteran all-rounder Ravi Shastri.
Although an official confirmation on the matter is still awaited, a top BCCI official had revealed that Dravid, who is now the head of the National Cricket Academy, has agreed to coach Team India. “Dravid has confirmed he will be the next head coach of the Indian team. He will be stepping down as head coach of NCA soon,” the official was quoted as saying after the IPL 2021 final. A report has further claimed that Dravid will sign a two year contract and draw a salary of Rs 10 crore annually. Notably, India’s current head coach Ravi Shastri reportedly earns Rs 5.5 crore per annum.
While the position for the fielding coach of the team is yet to be finalized, Vikram Rathour is expected to continue as the batting coach, and former Mumbai pacer Paras Mhambrey would take over the role of bowling coach from Bharat Arun.
