Rahman's road to Oscars

Will he clinch it or not? With just 12 days to go for the coveted Oscar awards presentation ceremony, every fan across the country are praying for music wizard A R Rahman to bag the rare honour.

Having lapped up several awards including the Golden Globe and BAFTA as a prelude to the Oscars, hopes and expectations are high on Rahman to win the Oscar race. Being nominated in three categories for 'Slumdog Millionaire', Rahman has almost reached the finale for the Grammy awards.

The man, who changed the face of Tamil film music industry, was least expected to scale such heights in his life when he made a humble beginning with 'Roja'. Spotted by acclaimed film-maker Mani Ratnam, Rahman seized the opportunity and grew from strength to strength.

Today an icon of music across the globe, Rahman has proved that versatility and innovative thoughts make up a great musician. Associated with Mani Ratnam, he rendered many a scintillating musical entertainers and their journey is still on.

'Slumdog Millionaire' is a mighty jewel in his crown which paved way for Global recognition. The rags to riches story by Danny Boyle, is making waves across the globe. Specially, Rahman's composition 'Jai Ho' and 'Ringa' has emerged as an anthem among worldwide music lovers.
