AR Rahman and Gulzar, who have collaborated on a number of wonderful songs over the previous three decades, are back with “Meri Pukaar Suno,” another beautiful number. The song is a dedication to Mother Earth, written from her point of view, in which she urges people to appreciate the gift of "sun, water, and air."
The song, which features Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal, KS Chithra, Sadhana Sargam, Shashaa Tirupati, Armaan Malik, and Asees Kaur, is essentially a cry from Maati Maa (Mother Earth) to her children to rejoin, promising them that this, too, shall pass.
Speaking about the song A.R. Rahman said "This time, this period of the pandemic, is an extraordinary phase in everyone's life. There is so much uncertainty and pain, and yet, so much resilience and healing. Gulzar ji and I wished to create a song of hope because we all need comfort and reassurance. 'Meri pukaar suno' is like Mother India singing to her children through her daughters. It's to say that human beings have survived and thrived through different periods of time and that we'll emerge through this bravely."
The singers are all clothed in white in the music video for "Meri Pukaar Suno," which resembles one of his previous album 'Vellai pookal' released in the year 2010.
