Radhika-Sai Kumar's bold 'Gaalivaana' courts trouble

The OTT space has been milked by Indian filmmakers to narrate bold stories. 'Gaalivaana' on ZEE5 is an example. A remake of the BBC miniseries 'One Of Us', the series has been streaming since April 14.

Owing to the sensitive nature of the big reveal, the web series has offended the tastes of a section of the audience. On Twitter, trolls have said that the series is quite shocking. It's a decent thriller with an uncomfortable climax, is the crux of their argument.

You have to notice that even trolls are calling the last two episodes uncomfortable but not predictable. 'Gaalivaana' is gripping that way.

If you are a conservative audience, make sure that you give the series its sweet time to work. The flashback reveal may make you feel embarrassed, especially if you are watching it with your family.

Directed by Sharan Koppisetty, the 7-episode series is not heavily Indianized. It stays faithful to the original material.

What is the premise? Radhika Sarathkumar's husband falls in love with a woman. This woman goes on to marry Sai Kumar after parental opposition to her love. Sai Kumar's daughter and Radhika's son fall in love many years later. This is not to the liking of Sai Kumar. What decision he takes makes for an unsettling twist.
