Bollywood remakes of South Indian films are quite popular with audience and they often guarantee a good box office collection as well. This is why a huge chunk of blockbuster movies produced by Bollywood consists of such remakes. Tamil star Suriya's 2020 film 'Soorarai Pottru' is also being considered for a Hindi adaptation with Akshay Kumar playing the lead.
The latest buzz about the project suggests that makers are considering actress Radhika Madan as the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar. If everything goes right, Radhika will be seen in the role originally played by Aparna Balamuralia.
A source close to the development told Mid-Day, "The film is in pre-production stage, with the director having reportedly set the adaptation in western India. In all likelihood, Radhika will play a woman from rural Maharashtra. She will have to learn a specific dialect before the film goes on floors."
'Soorarai Pottru' was loosely based on the life of G.R. Gopinath who founded the airline Simplify Deccan in order to provide affordable air travel to the masses.
