Marrying an underage girl even if its consensual is an offense in most parts of the world and the latest to court trouble for it is none other than the tainted singer R. Kelly who has already been charged for a sex racket. There have been several victims and family members who have alleged that he used minor girl fans for illegal sexual activities and trafficking.

In further reference to the case, the Brooklyn prosecutor has charged R. Kelly of bribing a government official to give a fake age ID to a minor girl who he married in 1994. US media has uncovered the girl mentioned as Jane Doe was, in fact, the Grammy award-winning singer Aaliyah who was 15 at the time and Kelly was 27. The couple after a few months separated and annulled the union. Aaliyah tragically died in a plane crash in 2001 when she was just 22 which cut short what would have been a great career as an entertainer. R. Kelly is currently in jail in Chicago and was denied bail recently and is slated to go on trial in May 2020.
