Director R. K. Selvamani has levelled the sensational accusation that the leaders of Indian Telecom including the government owned BSNL of supporting movie piracy. He has named Aircel, Airtel, Reliance and Tata as the five looters who benefit hugely by the piracy.

Speaking at a film function Selvamani lamented that the Central Government does not care about the film industry and has failed to protect it. He stated that there are 40 Crore internet users in the country and if someone from a foreign country uploads a film and crores of people download it the internet service providers earn the money in hundreds of crores for the bandwidth used. He finished off by saying that there is no law to curb the ISPs from supporting the illegal activity of film piracy.
