"Every moment is a scary moment" - Nisha Kothari Part - II

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,September 18 2006]

For a newcomer whose much hyped debut film [James] as a lead heroine had delivered a turkey at the box office and the second film [The Killer] had law of average catching up with its producers [Vishesh Films], it is but obvious to be excited as well as nervous. Hence it doesn't come as a surprise when pretty little Nisha Kothari says that she is pining a lot of hope on her next release 'Shiva'. Joginder Tuteja catches up with her on the eve of the film's release and gets to know more about how she feels about the film and what is she looking forward to in future. Over to Nisha!

There was some rawness in both Nisha and Mohit when they first appeared in 'James'. How comfortable do the two feel now ? "See with time everybody goes through improvements. One does get confident if he/she is focused and I am sure that Mohit has shown improvement too. In addition, when one works with a director like Ram Gopal Verma, you get that certain positive vibration in yourself. You are kicked to deliver your best! In 'Shiva' each of us were expected to do something better and this reflects in our work", she makes her point.

Comparisons must be obvious between Rohit Jugraj [director of James] and Ramu while filming for 'Shiva'. "But you can't compare 'Shiva' with 'James'", she pleads, "They are two different films altogether. Also I can't and haven't interfered in the making of two films. In both I have worked as per the director's command. Also how can you ask me to comment on Rohit or anyone else? I can't be judgmental and pass comments on others. That would be so unfair, isn't it?", she reasons, while adding on that she is not being diplomatic when she says so!

There is some competition in the form of 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' and 'Bas Ek Pal' that have released on the same day. Isn't she scared about the competition? "But then how can one get away from that. One can't say that it is scary to be pitted against 2 more films since I feel that every moment is a scary moment!", she reflects, "The idea is to standup and face the challenge".

One can't help but feel sorry about the fact that her 'The Killer' didn't do well. Wasn't she disappointed to the hilt since Vishesh Films and Emraan Hashmi have seldom seen a failure? "Yes, it was disappointing. I did feel bad for a day", she says in a light tone, "but then I moved on immediately after feeling that there are some things that would work for me and some may not. What's the reason behind pondering over something that has gone by? It was a glam girl look and I believe I carried off myself feel. So from that perspective I feel the film worked for me!

On being asked if she feels that the film's promotion is still below the mark, especially since it is the first full fledged film directed by RGV after 'Sarkar', she defended that by saying, "I am quite sure it's not the case. I feel the promotion is probably much wider than many of other RGV films. The way we have toured India in last month for the film's promotion, I have been joking with Ramuji that he has been taking us all for a 'bharat-bhraman'!"

So what does future hold for her? "I am working on 'GO' which is again a RGV film. I signed it alongside 'James' and it should be releasing around year end. Then there are 2-3 more films in the pipeline but I should be able to talk about them a few days later. I am not really interested into music videos or endorsements since at this stage I am concentrating on films and first want to establish myself there", she divulges, "Also for next few days my priority is to watch films and do some workout since for past 15-20 days I haven't been to do any of these. In addition, it's also time to start working on the new look for my next film!"

'Shiva' has opened to terrible reviews all over with hardly any good word floating about the film. The hackneyed plot is said to be the reason behind the film's final outcome. RGV's direction too pales in comparison with his earlier work.
