The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and 'Liger' are now inseparable, it would seem. About two weeks ago, star director Puri Jagannadh and producer Charmme Kaur were served notices by the central agency over suspected FEMA violations pertaining to a quantum of money invested in 'Liger'. For two weeks, there was no peep in the media. But everything came to be known on Thursday night after the Puri-Charmme duo was grilled for many hours.
Actually, it all began with Telangana Congress leader Bakka Judson alleging in August that politicians had invested money in the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer to turn their alleged black money into white. Back then, nobody took the complaint seriously.
Now that ED has stepped in, it has to be seen where the investigation is headed. Puri and Charmme have been summoned reportedly because monies were deposited into their bank accounts.
Controversies are not new to 'Liger'. Distributors have been trying to exert pressure on Puri over the huge losses they suffered because of the actioner. They want compensation from him. Puri recently lodged a police complaint against a distributor and a financier, saying that his family faces the threat of physical violence from them.
These developments have led to questions that Puri and Charmme have been hit by the aftermath of 'Liger' in so many ways.
