Queen Elizabeth expressed her frustration at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for naming their daughter Lilibet, the late queen's pet name, according to insights shared by The Daily Mail's Royal Editor, Rebecca English. The disclosure is found in Robert Hardman's book, Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story, revealing that the queen conveyed to aides that she doesn't own the palaces or the paintings; her sole possession is her name, and now, even that has been taken from her.

The book sheds light on the controversy surrounding Lilibet's name, stating that the queen was as angry as I'd ever seen her '' about the matter. The queen's team initially denied approving the name to the BBC, leading to a public dispute with Harry and Meghan's team insisting otherwise. Newspapers faced legal threats if they repeated the BBC claims, but no legal action was taken.

Lilibet, an affectionate nickname, was used by the late queen's parents and a few close individuals, including Princess Margaret and Prince Philip. The palace claimed the queen wasn't consulted, but the Sussexes asserted that Prince Harry had informed his family in advance, with the queen being the first family member he contacted.

Hardman's book recounts that Queen Elizabeth's anger was notable in 2021 when the Sussexes announced the use of the name, leading to legal threats that eventually dissipated, highlighting the disparities in recollections between the palace and the Sussexes.
