When it rains, it pours. While 2005 saw multiple number of comedies hitting the bull's eye, 2006 seems to be no different with number of comedies hitting the marquee one after another. While 'Malamaal Weekly' has already become a huge hit, at least three more films 'Shaadi Se Pehle', 'Tom Dick and Harry' and 'Pyaare Mohan' seem to be running along fine towards the road to success. Starring Fardeen Khan, Viveik Oberoi, Esha Deol, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani, 'Pyaare Mohan' is directed by Inder Kumar who gave a hilarious 'Masti' a couple of years back and redefined comedy genre that paved a way for many more such flicks to follow. From movies like 'Pyaare Mohan', one expects peppy'n'lively score that won't fall under a 'classic' category a decade down the line but would keep you smiling throughout the narrative. Let's check out the musical score by Anu Malik and Sameer to see if this indeed is the case with 'Pyaare Mohan' too.
1) Har Mohan Ki Koyi Radha [Udit Narayan, Shaan, Krishna, Earl, Anu Malik]
'There is a girl in everyone's life and the day is not far when we too would have one for ourselves' - that's the motto Pyaare and Mohan have as they sing along in the groovy club track 'Har Mohan Ki Koyi Radha'. It's the rap rendition by Earl (who introduces 'Pyaare-Mohan') that is the major highlight of the song as the final product is not half as jazzy as Earl's interspersed portions. The song continues to alternate between rhythm and melody and though it is sung by top singers like Udit Narayan and Shaan with support from Krishna and Anu Malik, one wishes if the title song could have been catchier and more foot tapping.
2) Tu Jahan Bhi Jaayegi/I Love You My Angel [Kunal Ganjawala, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik]
If 'Masti' had 'Dil De Diya Hai' as its anchor song [i.e. a track that held maximum prominence in the movies and came at a crucial juncture], 'Pyaare Mohan' indeed has 'Tu Jahan Bhi Jaayegi' as its anchor due to its multiple placements in the film and hence the album. Believe it or not but there are as many as five versions of the song in the album, though varying in length, and sound relevant at each of the places. First to come is the Kunal Ganjawala version where the singer sugarcoats this romantic track by bringing his sweet voice to full use and delivers good results. A mushy track about a man completed besotted by his lady love and 'respecting' her for her togetherness and support, it has the sound of 'I Love You My Angel' that stays with you hours after you have first heard the number. Kunal also returns to sing the remix version that is much faster paced whereas Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik appear in solos for three shorter versions that should form the part of the background score of 'Pyaare Mohan'.
3) Rabba De Di Deewani [Sunidhi Chauhan, Nikita Nigam]
Undoubtedly the most rhythmic and catchy song of the album, 'Rabba De Di Deewani' is highly entertaining and has a musical feel similar to Anu Malik's 'No Entry'. A fast paced 'dhinchaak' number that should be quite an eye candy on screen; it would be interesting to see who wins the battle out of real life foes Esha Deol and Amrita Rao! Sunidhi Chauhan and Nikita Nigam are the girls who let their hair loose in this foot tapping track and promise to keep you involved at least till the end of the film's show.
4) Ek Rub Sach Hai [Krishna, Richa Sharma]
Krishna, who has long been singing in the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan mode, begins 'Ek Rub Sach Hai' along with Richa Sharma who herself has a strong base when it comes to singing songs with sufi overtones. 'Ek Rub Sach Hai' belongs to the same genre while being presented along with western beats and appears to be a track that should appear in the film's pre-climax due
