Popular Malayalam filmmaker Deepan aka Diphan passed away today at Kochi. The 47-year-old director was ailing from liver cirrhosis and kidney ailments and had been admitted in the hospital for the past few days. Reportedly, The body will be taken to Trivandrum today and will be cremated tomorrow.

Diphan made his directorial debut with the 2003 film Leader. He is known for the Prithviraj starrer superhit movie Puthiya Mugham. His other movies include - Hero, SIM, Dolphin Bar, etc. His upcoming movie with Jayaram titled Sathya is in the post production stage.
