The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has tied up with Apple Home for Orphan Kids, a Manikonda-based NGO, to bridge the gulf between the needy and food wastage. As part of this unique initiative, refrigerators will be installed at various vantage places in the city.

Revolving around the concept 'Feed The Need', the initiative lets those having excess food to come to specific points in the city and store their food in the refrigerators for use by urchins and the poor.

The first refrigerator has already come up in the city. There are going to be more such facilities in 10 areas: Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Erragadda, Gachibowli, Red Hills and others.

If power supply will be provided by the GHMC, the refrigerators will be funded and maintained by the NGO.
