The 'Liger' fiasco is only getting worse by the day. It all started with the film's distributors, especially Warangal Sreenu, reportedly asking Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur to compensate them for the heavy losses suffered in the wake of the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer bombing at the BO. Puri hasn't made good their losses so far.
There are reports that distributors and sub-distributors will be staging a dharna in front of Puri's Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad on Thursday. A day ahead of the planned dharna, the 'Pokiri' director sprang up a surprise by lodging a police complaint against Sreenu and financier G Shoban Babu.
In the complaint, Puri alleged that Warangal Sreenu and financier Shobhan are instigating exhibitors to blackmail him to return monies. Puri is not duty-bound to compensate sub-distributors and exhibitors, as the responsibility lies with the distributor (read Sreenu), an argument goes. Nobody knows what are the terms of the Film Distribution Agreement struck by the producers of 'Liger' with the distributors. As per the agreement, going by Puri's version, the producers owe them nothing.
Puri hinted that Warangal Sreenu has defaulted. The police complaint says that there is a threat of physical and mental harassment of him and his family from the Sreenu-Shoban duo.
Puri is sounding confident. He even asked the Sreenu-Shoban duo to lodge a civil case if he really owes them any amount of money.
