Speaking at the pre-release event of 'Meeku Mathrame Cheptha, Vijay Deverakonda said that Puri Jagannadh is the only director who pays his assistants well. "When I was struggling to find a foothold in the film industry, my dad advised me to join Puri, as he is the only one who pays his ADs well. Those were the days when I was broke. I went to his office and came back without meeting him. I lied to my dad that I did make a try but didn't get through. I used to be like that those days," the 'World Famous Lover' actor said.

Cut to 2019, VD is the hero of Puri's next film, titled 'Fighter'.

The actor recollected his past on the occasion. "There was a time when I and Tharun Bhascker felt we would be lucky if 'Pelli Choopulu' gets released. Suresh Babu garu made our dream possible. And today we are here. I can't believe that I have produced a film," he said.

'MMC', VD's debut production, will hit the screens on November 1.
