A 45-year-old cricket player died of a heart attack after collapsing on the ground at Junnar in Maharashtra's Pune district on Wednesday, according to health officials.
The man has been identified as Babu Nalwade. A video of him collapsing on the ground at the non-striker's end after suffering a heart attack surfaced online. The incident reportedly happened during a local tournament organised near Jadhavwadi village. The players immediately rushed Nalwade to a hospital nearby but he was declared dead on arrival, according to an official from the Narayangaon police station. The official added that the autopsy reports confirmed that the player had suffered a heart attack.
It has been reported that Nalwade had also had a quick chat with the match umpire about the number of balls remaining in the over minutes before he collapsed on the ground.
