Official: PUBG Mobile is coming back to India

PUBG Corporation has officially announced that PUBG Mobile will be returning to the Indian gaming market as 'PUBG Mobile India.'
According to the PUBG Corp's statement, the new game which has been created specifically for the Indian market, will maximize data security for its players and adhere to the local regulations. The company will apparently conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users' personally identifiable information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed. The developers further mentioned, In addition to establishing a local office, the company will look to actively collaborate and leverage local businesses to strengthen its gaming service. A release date for PUBG Mobile India has not been announced yet. Following a clash in mid-June between the military troops in India and China over disputed territory which resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers, 59 Chinese based mobile apps, including the popular video sharing app TikTok, were banned in the country over data security concerns. Later, the government took up another list of such applications and examined them for violations to security and user privacy. Following this, a hundred other applications, including PUBG Mobile, were banned in the country.
Last month, Tencent Games announced the complete termination of their services in India effective from October 30. Dear Fans, To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020, Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, PUBG Mobile) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.
