It was a day ago, the surprise announcement came in that MetroMan E Sreedharan was joining BJP. Now, the latest is that the BJP party's Kerala unit chief K Surendran is in talks with P T Usha, former Indian athlete and Olympian known as Payyoli Express. Reportedly, P T Usha will join the BJP during K Surendran's Vijay Yatra.
It may be remembered that P T Usha was in a Twitter campaign supporting the central government in the farmers' strike controversy.
Apart from P T Usha, there is said to be a move to bring more people from the film industry to the party. It is reported that Surendran had approached Mollywood heartthrob Unni Mukundan too. In a media interaction, Surendran said that Unni couldn't contest in the assembly elections as he has movie projects. He also revealed that the actor agreed to contest in the future if that party demands it.
BJP is also trying to bring in actresses Anusree, Nisha Sarang and Mallika Sukumaran, mother of actor Prithviraj.
The talks are going on and a final decision is expected soon.
It may be remembered that actors including Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan Bolgatty, and Edavela Babu had recently attended the Aishwarya Kerala Yatra led by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. The party pins hope to influence the Keralites by bringing in more new people from all fields.
