Arvind Krishna, 57-year-old Indian-origin technology executive, has been elected as the Chief Executive Officer of IBM. As per the company, Jim Whitehurst will be IBM President, while Ginni Rometty will continue as Executive Chairman.
Commenting on the development, senior journalist Tom Warren today said, "Arvind Krishna is an IBM vet, and currently runs the company’s cloud business. He’s a techie. This mirrors Satya Nadella’s rise to CEO at Microsoft".
It's a proud moment for Indians. Although Krishna is not an Indian, he originated from India. The heads of Microsoft, Google, Adobe and IBM are all Indian-original minds!
Welcoming the move of IBM, NITI Ayog's Amitabh Kant today said, "Delighted to see a brilliant Indian taking over as CEO of IBM. Arvind Krishna is a visionary, a leader who has led IBM’s newer technologies like artificial intelligence, cloud and quantum computing." Dr. Omkar Rai noted, "It’s equally enthralling to watch how India’s top tech talent league has poised to drive the global tech revolution and set standards for others to emulate."
